HS season please end so we can get to some real soccer.

CAN'T AGREE MORE

Anonymous said...

Well well well. Hudson has moved to #3 and will soon be #2 in NJ as predicted once your HS season ends. I am right again and all but SSC (where it seems every kid on the team is playing varsity soccer at Gil) will be in my rearview mirror.

Anonymous said...

Since we at Hudson already taught you a lesson on how to move up the rankings in NJ soccer it is time to give a new lesson to all you spoiled suburban fools focused on HS soccer that seem to all be attending Gil. I didn't realize ALL NJ soccer youth attended Gil at 30K+. Or maybe it is only the good ones?
You are morons paying waaaay too much for little Johnny to play soccer because you are not getting any deal on getting him into Harvard and you may be hurting his chances. Since you paid way too much for your precious club soccer that couldn't even do the gotsoccer math I will do the contrarian math for you on this one.

Top prep schools like Gil and DelBarton (and actually these are kind of the mid-tier ones...top are Andover, Exeter, Choate etc.) can send roughly up to 1/4 or 1/3 of students to Ivy League or equivalent schools. WOW! That is a lot. Way more than public school. Out of atypical class of 300 there are usually 30 smart kids who also get into Ivy equivalents; up to 10%. And that is in NJ at some of the best public schools in the country from Millburn to Bergen County to Princeton. I guess that 100K+ for HS even after assistance is worth it. NOPE!

You forget that the universe of kids at Gil is populated with some of those smart 30 kids from various public schools so assuming your kid is smart too he has a 1 in 4 or 1 in 3 chance against the other smart kids to get into Harvard. At good FREE NJ public schools (really paid by your taxes) your smart kid is only competing with the top 10% anyway and his odds of matriculation to a top college among his smart piers is much higher. WOW! Sounds counterintuitive. It is. And it means you just spent 100K+ for something other than improving your kid's chances to get into Harvard. Hope you like the soccer! Your high priced club teams at PDA etc. look like a deal by comparison.

Hudson is a top 10 team, not as good as you state.

Anonymous said...

Did I state how good they are? I said they will soon be #2 rank in NJ. That is true. And 2 is in the top 10 so thank you for clarifying the obvious.

Anonymous said...

That was fast. Now Hudson is #2.

Anonymous said...

Points come and go very quickly after U14, Hudson parent is a newbie and will soon learn.

Anonymous said...

So says the SDFC parent...

Anonymous said...

SDFC would win 9 out of 10 against Hudson, so not sure of your point.

Anonymous said...

New teams to look out for in the spring. (not in the top now but coming on strong)
NJ Force
BOCA
Parsippany

Anonymous said...

I have heard that NJX is rebuilding and adding players. Good luck to all.

Anonymous said...

...and you base that on the strong spring SDFC had? I'm more worried about the teams below...NJ Force, Boca and Parsippany.

Anonymous said...

from where?

Anonymous said...

NJX actually doesn't play bad soccer. They are being trained well and now will need to display that on the pitch.

Anonymous said...

Good luck!

Anonymous said...

NJX will be just fine. Started scrimmaging Saturday and off we go.

Anonymous said...

My son played NJX Saturday and although it was just a friendly they did show our team that they are in fact a very good team. Good ball movement and beat us 5-0.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but what team do you play for?

Anonymous said...

Marlboro moves up to #3.
Morris Utd. drops out of the top 10.

...and most comically SDFC is not far behind with a drop to #9 in NJ rankings. As one of the most vocal teams on the blogs in this age group please explain what happened? Maybe you were too busy trying to put down all the Hudson parents and coaches that you forgot how to manage your own team.

Anonymous said...

Correction. Marlton moves up. Marlboro drops to Marlton's old spot at #5.

Anonymous said...

Do you really think SDFC is the 9th best team in NJ? Do you really think that there is a team in NJ that would be favored to beat SDFC in a single match? Could they lose? Yes, but lets get real.

Anonymous said...

HS please end! Enough of the bad fields, average players playing because they are older, game after game after game after game. Lets get back to soccer.

Anonymous said...

Glad to see everyone gearing up here to bash each other and each other's kids. My how I have missed everyone and I forgot how much fun all of this is. FYI to the wizard at Hudson, we know how gotsccer works, points drop off after a year. So your prediction after no one has been playing in the fall due to high school is pretty funny. Gad to see you understand how to add and subtract. Looking forward to some good Nov friendlies, EDP tournament and PA Classics. Can't wait to get back to real soccer after this high school crap.

Anonymous said...

No one is bashing anyone, but I see you set your stage.

Unknown said...

As an SDFC parent I must say that many new faces have ranked up the ladder. I say congratulations and job well done. I'm really looking forward to good competition in the near future and may the best team represent NJ well. See you all in the pitch.

Anonymous said...

8:59AM "Do you really think that there is a team in NJ that would be favored to beat SDFC in a single match?"

I love the SDFC parents. Too much entertainment for one blog! Let's start at the top. SDFC could never beat Stronghold. I could keep going down the list.....

but I want to address 1:44AM (wow you are up late!). I am no wizard. Just basic math and good to see you guys are getting up to speed on 2nd grade math. It IS pretty obvious when not playing in the fall so why didn't you figure that out last year? I look forward to better informed management across the board this season. I agree with one thing. Let's get past this HS crap and let the games begin!

Anonymous said...

Please keep going down that list, I would like to see your results.

Anonymous said...

Still no list. So sad.

Anonymous said...

what HS crap fields? My son played at pingry world cup field and probably the second best natural surface he has played on in his career. All his other games were on Turf? Played Watchung, BW, Hillsboro, Pingry, Scotch Plains and a bunch of other quality teams. HS soccer is just different, much more emotional, physical and also the teammates are more close knit as they spend much more time together off and on the pitch.. You just have to appreciate it for what it is. Enjoy both it goes by quickly!!

Anonymous said...

NO way HS games are more emotional, no way. More physical, yes, as that is all these coaches know. Fields may be good for you but in general, they suck for everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Once your son plays varsity you will change your tune about emotional, refs, players, coaches fans..the intensity level is much higher at h.s...not even close

Anonymous said...

Don't assume. My son does play Varsity and on what is considered a fairly good team. The intensity level is only higher with those players who don't play high level club soccer. Those that play at a higher level outside of the HS season don't take HS as serious.

Anonymous said...

I have to say, my experience in HS soccer has been watching a more physical style, not a better style. Ball skills are almost frowned upon.

Anonymous said...

NJX playing some friendlies and winning them convincingly. Has the training in the past year worked?

Anonymous said...

SDFC top flight at Disney!

Anonymous said...

Disney? I suppose they will be bringing a bunch of guests to such a large tournament.

Anonymous said...

Howell Home Cooking!

How can Howell sleep at night knowing they gave themselves a cakewalk into the finals? A depleted NJ Force, Ocean and Stronghold B team. The other side of the bracket has powerhouses Stronghold and Marlton along with NJX and Westfield.

Anonymous said...

I don't agree home cooking. With the exception of Marlton the brackets are pretty even from a ranking perspective and that is what tournys use to bracket, not who has beaten who the past season.

On paper, Marlton excluded Howell is playing higher ranked teams.

Anonymous said...

Interesting subject. I would think that they did what they could to avoid the two best teams in the tournament (SSC and Marlton) which really isn't fair to SSC and Marlton. It is Howells tournament, so they can do what they want.

Anonymous said...

I think they brackets are fair, considering it is Howell tourny. I am sure if Marlton or SSC ran this tourny they would put the each other in opposite brackets so why shouldn't Howell put them together and to be fair Howell took the other higher ranking teams. I have no problem with the choice.

Anonymous said...

Don't be surprised if Ssc b team beats Howell and ends up facing big brother in finals!

Anonymous said...

Agreed. SSC Dynamo can beat Howell but wont be favored too. We also don't know about Howell new players or injuries so who knows.

Anonymous said...

Yes, interesting. To 10:05’s comments, don't really get that. You're right, I'm sure if SSC or Marton were running the tournament they would have put themselves in different brackets -- they are the two best teams, so why would you not do that? No disrespect to Howell as they are good, but this one is just too obvious. Pretty embarrassing. Don't disagree with the rest of the bracketing. Guess their looking for some gotsoccer points they'll get in the final.... Would LOVE for someone from Howell to come on here and explain this one. Should be a fun weekends no matter how you look at it. Remember, it's about the boys, not us...

Anonymous said...

Howell will get finalist points, they made sure of that. I guess by saying that, I am also saying that Howell must be pretty good also.

Anonymous said...

Howell barely beat NJ Force. So either Howell is awful or NJF got that much better. Anyone see that game?

Anonymous said...

After seeing SSC Dynamo play this weekend itt is obvious their ranking is not earned. Also holmdel stacked their bracket with push overs..shame on u.

Anonymous said...

Holmdel stacked nothing, not their tournament. Also Holmdel beat the "unbeatable" SSC Falcons.

Anonymous said...

So any insiders know what is up with SSC Dynamo, they moved from a top 30 team all the way to 13, yet I watched them in the game they lost 6nil...based on that performance how did they get that ranking?

To the folks beating down the falcons. They may have lost a battle but they won the war...I don't think U.S. National team will be beating their chests if they "beat" portugal, but don't advance out of the first round..seriously, any team can be beaten on any given day, but Falcons continue win much more than they lose. I noticed they are playing at the U16 level next week, can anyone comment on the reason?

Anonymous said...

Howell is good so NJF must have gotten better. Good coaching will do that.

Anonymous said...

7:58-----GOOD ONE.

Anonymous said...

Apparently the Force did improve according to some of the other coaches at the tournament. Lets see what they do in the EDP tournament.

Anonymous said...

You spoke to other coaches about NJF at a tournament? What coaches would talk to you. Nice try.

Anonymous said...

5:25: Falcons are playing up at U16 level to allow a couple of Spartans to play and be seen at the showcase. Spartans team would not be placed in a high enough bracket for visibility. Falcons are placed in the second highest bracket allowing for good visibility for college coaches.

Anonymous said...

Will a college coach attend anything other then the highest bracket? Will a college coach attend any of these or just go to the academy games?

Anonymous said...

I have a son playing college now and he was at a medium level club team..never ranked higher than 18 and mostly in the mid 20's. He received interest from a number of D3 schools and also we did our own PR push as he hit his junior summer. If you ask they will come and watch as long as you are realistic about your sons ability. 2 or 3 schools followed him to a handful of tournaments. so yes, they will go down the brackets to watch but certainly it is easier if your son plays with some talented D1 players as he will get some visibility.

Anonymous said...

Falcons sure did help out. Thanks for nothing.

Anonymous said...

Hudson, please go the top of this page and take a look at your words. Take a breath while reading, think about your performance this past weekend and see how quickly things really can change.

Anonymous said...

I would say Hudson lost to some very good teams. It will happen to every team and not every final score shows what occurred on the field.

Anonymous said...

SSC Dynamo moved up because in the last major tournament they played in and reached the finals the roster was stacked with Falcon players. They need to keep ratings high to attract players. SSC Falcons played up maybe because they are good and looking for more competition and recognition 20or maybe are just trying to keep the GSB roster playing together.

Anonymous said...

Good luck to SDFC at the Disney Tournament. Represent NJ well!!

Anonymous said...

Good luck to SJEB and Marlboro too! Should be a great competition. Why wouldn't Stronghold participate?

Anonymous said...

Difficult for Stronghold to fully participate since they have some playing RedBulls now. They will be back for important games and state cup but to make a commitment to Florida and not know if they could come would be a big risk.

Anonymous said...

Hey. Can we fix the ranking of the logos on the home page?
